The Marblehead Arts Association, housed in the 1728 King Hooper mansion has been undergoing a 3 year renovation to restore and preserve this key part of Marblehead's history.
As a board member, I have led the renovation project. Exposing the sheathing on the East facade has revealed the history of the two side ells.
The newly renovated East facade has now restored the original character of this important structure.
The stairway to the lower garden, seen in its original form, had collapsed, needing a complete reconstruction.
Here is the new stairway. My design has emulated the old structure, but now meets current code requirements.
I have conducted multiple renovations to the interior of this wonderful building. Here is a view of the 3rd floor ballroom with a new chandelier.
